Our Story
The year was 1986. After a sermon on the sanctity of human life, First Life founder Rick Fletcher knew he and the church were being called to become advocates for the unborn. Unaware of what a “crisis pregnancy center” was, Rick began researching. In a matter of months, God’s plan came together.
In 1990, First Life Center moved to our second location. Throughout the early 2000s, we held classes, served hurricane victims, and built a new building.
After our 25th Anniversary in 2011, we added several new services, including additional sonogram days and a prenatal clinic.
Today, our staff provides free pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, confidential counseling, material resources, and more. We serve the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of women, children, and families from various cultures.
Our center is a refuge for desperate women facing an unplanned pregnancy or needing post-abortion healing. Everyone receives much-needed care and is shown the love of Christ.
We can confidently say that through our ministry, we have saved the lives of thousands of little ones over our 38 years. To God be the glory.
Our Vision
Our vision is God-given and God-driven:
- To be beacons of light to the people God sends our way as we administer free pregnancy tests.
- To emphasize hope to women in crises and provide assurance that they do not have to face the crisis alone.
- To magnify the awe of birth and the dignity of each human life by providing abortion alternatives and ultrasound imaging to reveal the miracle of life.
- To encourage moral purity, premarital abstinence, and strong family relationships.
- To reveal through personal and group mentoring the healing power of a relationship with Christ.
- To add a speaker’s bureau to reinforce our mission of abstinence in the community and local schools.
- To offer healing from abortion by providing a Memorial Wall as a visual representation honoring the unborn.
- To help supply the material needs of our clients in the form of clothing for themselves and their babies as well as the furniture and baby items needed.
Statement of Faith
The mission at First Embrace is to put God on display by modeling the love of Christ in ministering to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the women, children, and families we serve. We are a ministry devoted to the sanctity of human life.
